The Bottom Line: Fomer contractor takes back back guilty plea

Updated: Friday, July 11 2014, 09:46 PM EDT
BALLSTON SPA -- A surprise move in Saratoga County Court, as a local roofing contractor - who already admitted to ripping off his customers - takes back his guilty plea.

CBS6's Dori Marlin has been getting The Bottom Line on Robert Decker of Fonda for months now.

Dori started following Decker's trail of unhappy customers last fall, and uncovered that trail actually dates back to 1994.

He was even ordered by a judge in 2004 to never practice as a home contractor in New York State again.

Decker was in court Friday to be sentenced to 3-9 years in prison, on the most recent charges of grand larceny and scheme to defraud among others.

But in an unexpected move, Decker withdrew his guilty plea, saying the prosecution coerced him into it.

The defense says, it wants an order to show cause; the prosecution now has about two weeks to respond.

Decker was taken back into custody after Friday's appearance.  He's due back in court on July 25th.
