STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON

Today thunderstorms are expected to become widespread as a cold front crosses the region. With a hot and humid airmass in place across the region, those storms will have a lot of available energy to work with, and some of those storms may produce damaging winds and large hail. The most likely timing today will be between the hours of 1-7 PM, with the storms moving from the Northwest to the Southeast.
