Animal control officer in dog-killing case now charged with stealing farm equipment
The animal control officer arrested last week for taking and killing a woman's dog in the town of Hoosick has been additionally charged with stealing a piece of farm equipment, State Police have announced.
Matthew Beck, 46, of Eagle Bridge, was first arrested in March for lying about taking a woman's two dogs. Last week, State Police discovered the dogs' remains on Beck's property.
That search also resulted in the discovery of a stolen rake, a KUHN model GA 4121 GTH hay rake, that had been reported stolen in August 2007.
Beck is charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of stolen property in the incident.
He has also been charged by the New York State Environmental Conservation Police with violations of construction and operation of a non-permitted solid waste facility law, and violation of agriculture and markets law: unlawful euthanasia of dogs.
Beck was arraigned in Town of Brunswick Court and is scheduled to reappear in Hoosick Town Court.
