Eight charged in Columbia County for selling alcohol to minors

The Columbia County sheriff's department has ticketed eight people they say sold alcohol to a 19 year-old working for them.

The sheriff's department says 19 stores were checked during the sting, and of those eight sold alcohol to the underage person.

Arrested were the following:

Stephen Choinsky, 28, of County Route 6 in Germantown for the Blue Stores Xtra Mart in Livingston

Kimberly VanAllen, 37, of Route 9 in Hudson and employed by the Cumberland Farms in Columbiaville

Gurdeep S. Kang, 43, of Carmen Road and employed by Cobble Pond Farm in Niverville

Xu Zhao, 31, of Edgewood in Canton and employed by Spring Garden restaurant in Canton

Linda Bathrick, 46, of Brick Row in Athens and employed by Rite Aid Pharmacy

Mahmood Malik, 54, of Michael Court in Hudson and employed by Sunoco in Germantown

Kevin S. Herber, 24, of Harry Howard Ave., and employed by Hess of Fairview Ave. in Greenport

Matthew Liebel, 21, of Wurts St. in Kingston and employed by Stewarts in Germantown

All eight were charged with unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage and are due back in various town courts in the Columbia County.
