Recyclable electronics stack up in Troy
Computers. Televisions. Refrigerators. Stereos.
They don't last forever.
Sometimes people just get tired of them.
Whatever the reason, when its usefulness domes to an end there is often an afterlife for electronics, and when they die in Rensselaer County, they sometimes go to the County Office Building.
That's where the county legislature's Environmental Management Council held its third electronics recycling day Saturday. The previous two events attracted at least 300 people, according to lawmakers.
County residents can drop off certain appliances and electronics any pay no disposal fee. Televisions cost fifty dollars. Computers monitors cost five bucks.
In a prepared news release, legislator Alex Shannon said these events "offer residents a convenient way to diospose of electronics and appliances and ensure they are disposed of in an environmentally safe way."
