Earthquake shakes part of Capital Region

Shake felt in East Berne, Clarksville

The U.S. Geological Survey and people in Albany County report an earthquake at 8:53:29 p.m. tonight. The epicenter was South Berne, according to USGS. USGS syas it was a 2.8 magnitude earthquake with a depth of 6.8 miles.

Jessica Sigala of the U.S. Geological Survey's center in Golden, Colo., says Monday the center received reports of the tremblor being felt in neighboring Schoharie, Schenectady and Saratoga counties.

One person from Clarksville tells CBS 6 News it was "very exciting, people were out in the street to see what had happened...It woke people up out of bed...Truly crazy and amazing."

There were no reports of injuries or damage.

A quake of magnitude 2.5 to 3 is the smallest generally felt by people.
