Capsized boaters rescued in Dutchess County
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Three boaters were rescued and treated for hypothermia when their 12-foot sailboat capsized in the choppy Hudson River on Friday afternoon, according to a statement released by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office in Poughkeepsie.
Simon Strauss, 54, of Shokan, sailed south on the Hudson from the Ulster County dock with his 14-year-old daughter and her 13-year-old friend.
The boat took on choppy water and capsized, and the three bailed and floated south, eventually landing near Poet's Walk in Red Hook.
The three were uninjured aside from the hypothermia, for which they were treated at Northern Dutchess Hospital.
