A Clifton Park man is facing charges for driving drunk and crashing into a utility pole early Monday morning.

Colonie Police say 32-year-old Gerald Baumgartner of 39 Dunsbach Road was driving down Central Avenue near the Stanford Heights Fire House when he crashed into the pole.

When police arrived to investigate they say Baumgartner had taken off on foot from the scene.  Police caught up with him a short time later on Lansing Road.
