Cleanup of Downed Power Lines Leave Residents Phoneless
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A portion of Route 50 in Schenectady County was shut down Tuesday afternoon because of down power lines, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.
Rt. 50 from Kingsbury Rd. to Lake Hill Rd. was closed for several hours while crews worked to repair the lines.
Glenville Police say a truck got caught in the wires pulling them down into the street. No one was injured.
The Schenectady County Office of Emergency Management is alerting residents of the Glenville area that Emergency 911 and regular telephone service of Verizon Communications Telephone are out of commission.
Residents are advised to maintain any alternative means of calling 911 to report emergencies.
Customers will be without telephone service until 3 PM Wednesday, July 23.
