The daughter of the family at 811 Malta Avenue Extension shares a cell phone photo of the dog she says saved their lives

Dog saves Malta couple

An elderly Saratoga County couple has their new dog to thank for their lives this morning.

Fire broke out before 3:30 a.m. at 811 Malta Avenue Extension at Riley's Cove on Saratoga Lake.

The couple's daughter told CBS 6 their dog woke them up early this morning and the three got out safely before flames engulfed the home.  This morning the family says they are still searching for the dog they said saved their lives

The 96-year-old and 86-year-old have lived in the home for about 50 years.

She said the home is historic because it was once owned by a Pullman Car Company executive and had company memorabilia inside.

There is still no word on a cause.

Stay tuned to CBS 6 and here on the Web for the latest.
