For deep-discount shopping, head to Steve & Barry's

With national apparel retail chain Steve & Barry's planning to close its remaining 173 stores across the country -- including one at Colonie Center -- shoppers may be able to get an early start on deep-discount shopping ahead of black Friday by picking through the remaining goods.

Steve & Barry's had initially announced in August it was closing 97 stores, and was planning to keep the other 173 stores open, but said it has since decided to close those stores.

Going-out-of-business sales will last five to seven weeks, with some stores closing sooner.

Steve & Barry's sold celebrity-designed lines, such as the DEAR collection by Amanda Bynes, Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker, and Starbury by Stephone Marbury.

The company is planning to totally liquidate the stores, said the CEO of SB Capital Group, one of the groups conducting the liquidation sales.
