Man Found Dead in Taconic State Park
New York State Park Police have found 79 year old Royal Sherow of Poughkeepsie, after he was reported missing Tuesday night. Sherow was been fishing in Taconic State Park in Copake, Columbia County.
According to Police, Sherow was fishing with others at Bash Bish Brook when somehow he became separated from the group he was fishing with for the day. According to the time line given to Police, a member of the fishing party noticed him missing around 5:00pm. The Park manager was notified at 8:30pm, who then called State Police. A Search and Rescue team was immediately activated, they searched until 2:00 A.M. when the search was suspended due to hazardous conditions.
The search resumed at 7:00 A.M. on Wednesday morning. Sherow was located in teh Brook, downstream from where his fishing rod was found. He was transported to St. Peter's Hospital in Albany for an autopsy.
