Bottoms up: Battle of the Brews at Saratoga Race Course today
Beer aficionados, today's your day.
The Saratoga Race Course will be hosting its 12th annual Battle of the Brews as part of the nine-day Travers Festival leading up to and ending the day after the highly anticipated $1 million Shadwell Travers Stakes, the biggest race of the season at Saratoga.
The Battle of the Brews will take place from noon until 4:30 p.m. in the backyard of the track, just inside the Union Avenue entrance.
Event attendees -- of legal drinking age, of course -- will be able to sample microbrews and offer critiques in categories like People's Choice and Judge's Choice.
Participating breweries include Black Dog, Boulder Beer, Brewery Ommegag, Cooper's Cave Ale, Green Mountain, Harpoon, Long Trail, Magic Hat, Olde Saratoga, Paper City, Saranac, Sierra Nevada and Switchback.
Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Proceeds from this and the other Travers Festival events benefit the American Red Cross Adirondack Saratoga Chapter and other local charities.
