Today, free ice cream scoop at Ben & Jerry's, 50-cent iced coffee at Dunkin' Donuts

If you love a free treat (and who doesn't?), today's your day!

Ben & Jerry's is holding its 31st annual Free Cone Day, and will serve free scoops from 12 noon till 8 p.m. today.

The event is designed to give back to each store's respective community, working with local non-profit organizations to raise awareness and generate donations.

The company is also introducing its newest flavors today: Chocolate Macadamia, featuring Fair Trade vanilla, Fair Trade chocolate and sustainably-harvested macadamia nuts; Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road, featuring chocolate ice cream, peanut butter cookie dough, butter brickle and white chocolate chunks; and Orange & Cream, a swirly sorbet of orange with vanilla ice cream.

Coffee company Dunkin' Donuts is also serving reduced-price iced coffee today as part of a benefit for Homes for Our Troops, a national non-profit organization dedicated to building specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans.
