Albany, Clifton Park, Johnsville among 10 communities hoping for 'best water in NY' title
SYRACUSE -- Ten municipalities are hoping to win bragging rights for the best tasting water in New York.
The final championship taste-test begins at 12:30 p.m. at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, with the winner to be announced by 4 p.m.
The first group of competitors includes the village of Afton in Chenango County; the city of Albany; Bolton Point in Tompkins County; New York City; and the village of Ovid in Seneca County.
The second group is Clifton Park in Saratoga County; Clymer in Chautauqua County; Dix Hills in Suffolk County; Pulaski in Oswego County; and Johnsville in Montgomery County.
The general public will participate in blind taste tests of water samples.
The 10 finalists won earlier regional contests to reach the championship.
