Columbia County Proposes Plan for Emergency Housing Need

The St. Charles Hotel in Hudson could soon be the site of a satellite office for the Department of Social Services (DSS).The possible rental agreement between Columbia County and East Coast Realty, LP, announced Monday, will reduce the county's temporary housing costs by more than $400,000 a year, according to DSS Commissioner, Paul Mossman. The purpose of this proposal is to  solve a growing emergency housing need and concerns about future access to public social service programs, If approved by the County Board of Supervisors, DSS will open up shop at the 16 Park Place facility for the next seven years.
