UPDATED 4:00 p.m.

Albany County Sheriff's Department is investigating a serious accident that occurred this morning on Route 405 in Westerlo.

The Sheriff's Office says 54-year-old Daniel Orlando of Hannacroix was driving his 1995 Chevrolet van westbound on Route 405 when his van left the roadway and hit a tree.

It took rescue personnel from two fire departments over an hour to extricate Orlando, according to a photographer on the scene.

Orlando was flown to Albany Medical Center Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, said the Sheriff's Office.

Police are still looking into a cause in the accident.
