Washington County woman arrested for falsely filing for benefits
A 21-year-old Washington County woman was arrested after police say she filed for and received county benefits she was not entitled to.
Heidi Manney of Main Street in Argyle was charged Thursday with felony first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office said Manney filed a shelter verification form with the county Department of Social Services claiming she was paying rent while residing with a relative.
In fact, Manney, who received $393 in benefits, was not being charged any rent.
Manney was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Fort Edward Court on Feb. 24th.
