Corey Ellis to announce mayoral bid Monday
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Albany Common Council member Corey Ellis will formally announce his candidacy for city mayor next Monday, March 2nd, CBS 6 News has learned.
CBS 6 News Albany bureau chief Ken Screven reports an advisory is being issued Friday night for a news conference to be held 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Albany.
Ellis, a third ward Alderman, has been an outspoken critic of City Hall, and has been in the forefront of recent attacks against the ghost ticket and VIP parking list controversies. The Common Council has decided to take testimony under oath from police union officials in connection with how the parking ticket practice originated.
CBS 6 News reported last week that Common Council president Shawn Morris was on the verge of tossing her name into the ring to challenge incumbent Democratic Mayor Jerry Jennings in a primary fight. Morris has still not made a formal announcement.
