Man arrested on drug charges in Columbia County

The Columbia County Sheriff's department has arrested a man who it calles a high-level drug dealer in Columbia, Dutchess and Greene Counties.  .

Richard K. Douglas, 51 years old of Freehold, N.Y., in Greene County, was arrested for sales and possession of narcotics.

Police say they pulled him over for a traffic stop on NYS RT. 9J, yesterday afternoon around one.

Police say he refused to get out of the car, and locked his doors. They say when officers reached in to pull him out, he drove away, dragging one of the officers for a short distance.

Eventually, police were able to stop him further down the road.

Police say they arrested douglas after a several month long investigation by the Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement and Education Unit (DEEU) Investigators, assisted by the Columbia County District Attorney's Office.

They say hetraveled to locations in Columbia County to sell Heroin.  He was also found in possession of three bundles of Heroin when arrested.

He faces various drug charges, as well as numerous vehicle and traffic violations.

He was arraigned in Stuyvesant Town court and sent to jail without bail.
