UPDATE: Police say aggressive driving killed one, injured others in 5-car crash

COLONIE -- State Police have released results from the investigation, by an accident reconstruction team, into Thursday’s fatal crash on Route 7.

Investigators said James Jubrey, 29, of Rensselaer, was behind the wheel of a two-door sedan when he cut off a Ford Suburban being driven by Bonnie Pettograsso, 42, of Waterford.

Their bumpers hit sending both vehicles out of control.

The two cars, which were traveling East, then crossed the median and over into the westbound lanes striking three more cars.

Jubrey was pronounced dead at Albany Memorial Hospital. 

Pettograsso and her husband, Ronald, were taken to Albany Medical Center. 

John Adams, 56, of Troy, who was driving a Hyundai sedan, was seriously injured in the crash and had to be extricated. He was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

Another driver, Clinton Hayduke, 26, of Albany, received minor injuries and was treated at St. Peter's Hospital.

A fifth driver, Pruthvi Jayasimha, 33, of Guilderland, was not injured in the crash. 

COLONIE -- A driver died in a multi-vehicle accident on alternate Route 7 in the town of Colonie Thursday evening, State Police say.

Five vehicles were involved in the accident, which happened at about 6:20 p.m. One of the drivers was taken to Albany Memorial Hospital, where he or she was pronounced dead.

Four other people were injured and taken to local hospitals, according to State Police.

The accident remains under investigation. State Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Loudonville barracks at 518-783-3211.

Alternate Route 7 was shut down for hours in both directions as emergency response crews attended to the accident.
