Senator Hillary Clinton refuses to talk about Obama cabinet
Comments 0 | Recommend 0New York Senator Hillary Clinton visited Colonie Friday to give the keynote speech at the New York Public Transit Industry's three-day conference.
But, that speech was overshadowed by reports that Clinton is on a short list of people being considered for the job of Secretary of State under President-Elect Barack Obama.
The two reportedly met Thursday afternoon in Chicago in Mr. Obama's downtown transition office.
On Friday, Senator Clinton arrived at the Holiday Inn off Wolf Road in Colonie and waved hello but didn't say much else to the more than two dozen reporters waiting for her.
After taking the podium at the transit news conference, Clinton right away said she was there only to talk about public transportation and nothing else.
"I'm not going to speculate or address anything about the President-Elect's incoming administration," Clinton said. " I'm going to respect his process and any inquiries should be directed to his transition team."
Other names being considered for the Secretary of State job are Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.
The Secretary of State serves as the Presidents principal advisor on U.S. Foreign Policy, conducts negotiations relating to U.S. foreign affairs, negotiates, interprets and terminates treaties and agreements and supervises the administration of U.S. immigration laws.
