Catskill gets $10K in matching grant to develop downtown and waterfront strategy
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ALBANY -- The village of Catskill has received a $10,000 matching grant from the Hudson River Valley Greenway to help develop a downtown and waterfront revitalization strategy, HRVG acting executive director Mark Castiglione announced Monday.
The grant was approved at the Oct. 14th meeting of the Greenway Boards.
The strategy will build upon the Catskill Harbor Study and Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan conducted in 1984, and will aim to enhance the village's Main Street corridor by increasing access to the Catskill Creek and Hudson River, said Castiglione.
The strategy will also explore waterfront opportunities and a pedestrian-friendly downtown, and will plan for appropriate redevelopment, revitalization and growth to capitalize on Catskill's "prime location for water-dependent and water-enhanced uses," said Castiglione.
The Hudson River Valley Greenway Communities Council is a state agency, established in 1991, consisting of 259 municipalities (324 are eligible) designed to encourage Hudson River Valley communities to develop projects and initiatives related to developing access to and protecting the Hudson River.
