Schenectady Catholic Charities offices relocate
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Schenectady Catholic Charities has relocated and is ready for business come Monday morning.
A devastating fire all but wiped out their operation early Saturday morning, but according to Executive Director John Steele, they have set up shop at the vacant St. Paul the Apostle School at 16 Van Zandt St in Schenectady.
Steele said the agency was fortunate not to loose their computer system or paper records in the fire.
The Catholic Charities building on Union Street suffered water and smoke damage throughout, and heavy fire damage to the second floor. That fire is still under investigation.
In addition, the Healthy Schenectady Families Program is being relocated to the second floor of former St. Helen's Convent at 40 Ray Street in Niskayuna, accessible from the Church parking lot.
The Adolescent Pregnancy Program permanently relocated to the first floor of the convent building last fall.
According to the Executive Director, the relocations are temporary and no decision has been made as of yet on whether the Union St. offices will be rebuilt.
