Slingerlands and Delmar fire departments were called to the Slingerlands Elementary School around 1:30 PM Wednesday for a 2 inch high pressure gas main rupture at the entrance to the school parking lot.  Construction crews installing new curbs ruptured the line.

According to Slingerlands Fire Chief, Jason Tice, there were approximately 35-45 people evacuated from the school. These were faculty and construction workers.  No students were in the school at the time. 3 or 4 homes were evacuated as well.  National Grid came to the scene and clamped off the leak.
