School bus driver charged with DWI and suspended
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A bus driver has been charged with drunken driving while transporting children in central New York and has been suspended from the job.
New York Mills police say 57-year-old Louis Zammiello, of Utica, was drinking straight vodka out of a spring water bottle while operating the Head Start school bus around 4:20 p.m. Thursday. He is charged with DWI, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Police tell the Utica Observer-Dispatch they stopped the bus after receiving a call. An aide on the bus text messaged a colleague, who called police.
