Schenectady man arrested for raping mentally disabled woman

State Police in Princetown arrested a Schenectady man on Nov. 30 for allegedly raping a 21-year-old mentally disabled woman.
Steven E. Schaffer, 25, brought a close family friend on an outing from an ARC Group Home in Middleburgh and allegedly raped her.
He was arrested for second degree rape and endangering the welfare of an incompetent person. Schaffer was arraigned in Esperance and will return to Middleburgh Town Court.
He is also barred from having contact with the victim and from going near the group home by an order of protection.
