Two Men Arrested For Pretending to be Cops
Police have arrested two men, charged with pretending to be police officers. According to the Police Department's spokesperson, Det. Dave Dean, Carlos Maldonado of Cohoes and David B. Ventura of Albany allegedly handcuffed and threatened two Troy teenagers and placed them in a dark colored SUV where they were driven around for approximately 10 minutes. The men were repeatedly threatened and then released. According to Police, Maldonado claimed to be a bail enforcement agent and was wearing body armor during this incident. Both men were wearing jackets that said "agent" on them and police style belts and equipment.
Troy PD investigated the incident and eventually located both Maldonado and Ventura. They've charged Maldonado with kidnapping, criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and harassment. Ventura was charged with kidnapping and criminal impersonation.
