Men arrested for trying to defraud extended warranty program
Comments 0 | Recommend 0State Police have arrested the owner and former service manager of Quinn Motor Car in West Sand Lake, after they say the two stole thousands of dollars from an extended vehicle warranty program.
Police say the owner, Mark Quinn, 44, of West Sand Lake, and the former service manager, Paul Wehnau, 28, of Averill Park, were both charged with scheme to defraud and falsifying business records.
After a six-month investigation, troopers determined that between January of 2007 and January 2008, the men submitted at least 30 vehicle repair invoices containing fraudulent charges for towing and vehicle rental to a Texas company that administers an extended vehicle warranty program.
Customer's signatures were also illegally signed to the invoices without their knowledge, attesting to the alleged tow and rental charges.
As a result, Quinn Motor Car was reimbursed thousands of dollars.
Both Quinn and Wehnau were arrested and issued appearance tickets for the Town of Sand Lake Court.
