Schodack man arrested for attacking Albany police officer
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ALBANY -- A Schodack man was arrested on assault charges Tuesday morning after allegedly attacking police officers, causing one to fall through a metal railing.
Police were responding to a domestic dispute at 480 Washington Ave. at 2 a.m. Tuesday for a report that 24-year-old Gregory Hardy was trying to kick in the door at his wife's home, said Albany public safety spokesperson Det. James Miller.
Officers found Hardy "acting loud and out of control," said Det. Miller, and Hardy began to punch and kick at the approaching officers. Hardy allegedly pushed Officer Gregory McGee off the concrete steps and through a metal railing.
Police subdued Hardy with a Taser gun, then handcuffed him. Hardy was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned in city court Tuesday morning.
Officer McGee was treated and released from Albany Medical Center for bruising and abrasions to high right leg.
