Albany County teen sentenced in crash that killed high school classmate
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) --An Albany-area man who crashed his car and killed his 16-year-old friend will spend six months in jail.
Edmund Moore was driving about 80 miles per hour in a 35 mile-per-hour zone on October 1st when he struck a tree in the town of Knox. The crash killed high school junior Ryan Slingerland and injured passenger Ashlee Overbaugh.
Moore was charged in April with criminally negligent homicide. He pleaded guilty to that charge. On Tuesday, the 20-year-old was sentenced to six months in jail and 5 years of probation. He was also ordered to pay more than $5,000 in restitution.
