UPDATE: Northway rollover Saturday claims one life

UPDATE 10:00 PM

State Police say an elderly woman has died from injuries she sustained in a rollover accident on the Northway.

It happened Saturday afternoon in the southbound lanes of Interstate 87 near Exit 19 in Queensbury.

Police say 45-year-old Paul Mosticchio, of the Cayman Islands, was driving in the left lane when he swerved into the center lane and slammed into a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Ronald Martineau, of Peru, NY.

Martineau's vehicle flipped over.

Inez Pelkey, 81, of Cadyville, NY, a passenger in Martineau's vehicle, was taken to Glens Falls hospital where she later died.

Mr. Mosticchio was issued tickets for Reckless Driving, Moving from Lane Unsafely and Unlicensed Operation.  He is due in court at a later date.

State Police say an elederly woman has succumbed to injuries sustained in a rollover accident on the Adirondack North (I-87) Southbound in the area of Exit 19 in Queensbury (Warren County) on Saturday.

CBS 6 News is awaiting further details on the rollover crash from State Police at Queensbury.  The accident snarled southbound traffic for a while Saturday afternoon.

A multi-car accident backed up traffic just south of Exit 19 on the Northway Saturday afternoon.

Police say it happened at about 12:15 in the southbound lanes.

We're told the accident involved at least two cars and a log truck.

Investigators say a woman who was trapped inside her car following the accident suffered minor injuries.  It's unknown if anyone else was injured.

The southbound lane was shut down for a short time while crews cleared the accident, but it has since been reopened.
