September 5, 1969 - Palace problems

Updated: Thursday, September 5 2013, 09:01 AM EDT
44 years ago today, the owners of the Palace Theater in Albany announced they were closing down.

This was back when other downtown businesses were shutting down during the late-60s.

Soon after, the city purchases the palace for $90,000 dollars -- less than half what it cost to renovate it in 1960.

Ten years later, it was listed on the "National Register of Historic Places."    September 5, 1969 - Palace problems
