Light Icing Possible Tuesday Morning in all Areas

Temperatures in many locations will be at or below freezing as showers overspread the region from the south by or shortly before daybreak leading to some glazing on untreated surfaces.  Although any ice build-ups will be light, generally a thin glaze, it only takes a thin glaze to make a surface slick.  Use caution traveling throughout the region during the morning

September 4, 1969 - Cut that hair!

Updated: Wednesday, September 4 2013, 05:31 AM EDT
On this day in our history back in 1969 a student at the Old Linton High in Schenectady was told he had to cut off his long hair.

The school's principal it was either that -- or sit out an upcoming band concert.
He cut his hair that night, but then-state education commissioner Ewald Nyquist heard about the case -- and publicly supported the student.
The Schenectady School board -- led by board member F. Morley Roberts -- asked Nyquist for an explanation.

Nyquist said if a student's dress or hair is not disruptive, then it's okay in the classroom.
