Snow Transitions to Sleet and Freezing Rain Before Midnight - Slick Travel Expected

Snow is now underway across the region with a transition to sleet and freezing rain expected in most locations prior to midnight.  A general 2"-4" of snow accumluation is likely with pockets of 3"-6" in the southern Adirondacks, Lake George-Saratoga Region, Vermont, the Berkshires, and the Taconics prior to midnight with up to 0.10" of a glaze of icing on top of the snow.  The storm is a fast mover with the most if not all of the precipitation over by or shortly before daybreak.  Slow and slick travel conditions should be expected through the pre-dawn hours with much improved road conditions by the Wednesday morning commute.

It's a civil defense drill on the streets of Schenectady with the sirens wailing, folks on the street, and kids in the schools.

They were preparing in the event of an attack by the Soviet Union.
