June 1966 - State takes over Olana

As we look back in our history, we take a look at June of 1966 - a year after being designated a national historical landmark, the Olana state historic site in Greenport (east of Catskill) Was taken over by the state.
Governor Nelson Rockefeller was on hand for a special ceremony to mark the occasion.
The grounds are still open during the day throughout the year and the original carriage roads are accessible.
