Light to Locally Moderate Snow Storm From Sunday Afternoon- Early Monday Morning

A weak area of low pressure will cross the region from late Sunday through early Monday morning bringing a period of accumulating snow which will begin as some light and spotty snow on Sunday afternoon. A steadier snow will develop through the evening and into Sunday night. Expect slow and slick travel conditions Sunday night with variable snow accumulations ranging from 1"-3 in the Capital Region to as much as 5"-7" in terrain favored areas in the Adirondacks, Lake George-Saratoga Region, Vermont and Berkshire County.

June 13 - Cohoes Soapbox Derby

On this day in our history, a local milestone in the women's liberation movement: one of the first girl's in the country to participate in a soap box derby.


A two-year court case in Virginia resulted in a girl in that state being allowed to be included in the races.


In cohoes, 13-year-old Debbie Smith would compete with 138 boys.


She wasn't allowed any special treatment. She built her own car, with the help of Paiul Wheeler, an Industrial Arts teacher at Cohoes Middle School. 


Debbie named her car the, "Century Two."
