Slick Roads Overnight As Steadier Snow Tapers Off - Still Some Occasional Light Snow

A weak area of low pressure that has been producing mainly light snow this evening will push farther away from the region as we work into the late night hours. The steady,  light snow will be tapering to more scattered areas of light snow, with only minimal additional accumulations for the overnight hours. Still, expect slow and slick travel conditions to be around for the duration of the night.  Most areas have seen from 1-3" of snowfall. Lingering flurries will be around into Monday morning.

July 26, 1970 - One hungry elephant

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 09:17 PM EDT
On this day in 1970, what had been a popular attraction in the area was dealing with a big problem.

At Fox's Zoo in West Sand Lake, 9-week-old Asian Annie the elephant wasn't feeling that well.

Zoo owner Harold Fox took her to vets at Cornell, who found an allergy to cow's milk.

They prescribed generous supplies of crushed rice and bananas and goats milk.

The rice and bananas weren't a problem, but try finding enough goat's milk to feed an elephant?

We never did find what happened to Annie.July 26, 1970 - One hungry elephant
