July 25, 1968 - State police receive new helicopter

On this day in 1968, New York State Police received a new 3-seat bubble-front helicopter.

The chopper worked out of Albany Airport.

Police said the chopper would be used for a variety of purposes, but not to catch speeders.

Back in the 60's planes were regularly used to catch drivers with a lead foot.July 25, 1968 - State police receive new helicopter
