Nor'easter to Bring a Heavy to Major Snowfall Monday Night into Tuesday Night

A major Nor'easter is expected to develop south of New England Monday night, potentially getting stuck near Cape Cod into Tuesday before moving away Tuesday night.  This storm will bring heavy snow and gusty wind at times causing blowing and drifting snow, potential whiteout conditions at times leading to dangerous travel late Monday night through Tuesday.  Snow accumulations of 10" to 20" will be possible, especially in the Hudson valley and across western New England with amounts up to 10" in the Mohawk valley and western Catskills.

August 23, 1969 - End of summer playground

Updated: Friday, August 23 2013, 06:35 AM EDT
On this day in our history back in 1969,  Schenectady used to have a portable playground for the end of summer.

Reporter Carmen Holloman told us city officials wanted to make sure all kids got a crack at playing on the playground.

Then parks and rec director William Eddy said the unit gave the parks and rec department flexibility.

The portable playground had ping pong tables, a volleyball net, game tables, and the back of the trailer could be used as a stage complete with a sound system and lights for young performers.

No word how long the portable playground lasted.August 23, 1969 - End of summer playground
