Severe T'Storm Watch in Effect Until 8 pm

A SEVERE T'STORM WATCH is in effect until 8 pm for Albany, Bennington, Berkshire, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Litchfield, Rensselaer, Rutland, Saratoga, Schenectady and Warren Counties. A watch means that conditions are favorable for thunderstorms to produce localized damaging wind gusts and large hail as well as frequent lightning and torrential rain.

August 20, 1966 - State Fair comes to town

On this day in our history back in 1966, Albany mayor Erastus Corning was greeted by an unusual visitor.
   
At ten feet high, an ex-vaudevillian on stilts was out promoting the NYS Fair.

He visited 25 cities throughout the state and presented special tickets to each of those cities mayors.August 20, 1966 - State Fair comes to town
