An update tonight on a powerful new pain killer, we first told you about earlier this week in "Your Life, Your Health."
Zohydro is five to ten times more powerful, than Vicodin and if mixed with alcohol, could kill you.
Tonight, the head of the food and drug administration which "has" approved the drug is defending that decision.
Zohydro is the first pure version, of hydrocodone which is the most abused medication, in this country.
More than a half-dozen lawmakers, have criticized the FDA’s approval questioning why the drug was not formulated, to prevent drug abusers from snorting or injecting it.
Before a senate committee, earlier today the FDA head, said quote "right now, unfortunately, the technology is poor."
She also said Zohydro fills an important and unique niche, for treating pain and that the pill met the government's standards, for safety and effectiveness.
