Light to Moderate Snowfall Tonight Through Friday AM, Slow and Slick Travel Developing

Snow will overspread the region tonight, likely arriving in the Capital Region after 9 or 10pm and closer to midnight across western New England.  Slick road conditions will evolve tonight with a slow morning drive likely.  Expect an average of 2"-5" of snow through the early afternoon on Friday with pockets of 6"+ in the Mohawk valley, Lake George - Saratoga Region, Adirondacks, VT, and the northern Berkshires.  Bitterly cold air will follow the snow for Friday night and Saturday

Stock index futures are higher in early trading. The Dow is up 0.4%. The S&P 500 is gaining 0.3% while the NASDAQ trades 0.2% above fair value on Globex. The major averages are indicated to open in positive territory following this mornings round of corporate profit releases and economic data. Ford is gaining 3.7% to $18.17 after quarterly results topped consensus estimates. 3M is 0.7% higher at $124.00 as profits exceeded analyst projections. Homebuilder Pulte Group is up 2.8% to $17.15 as earnings rose more-than-expected. Colgate-Palmolive is down $0.47 to $63.00 after the consumer goods company reported an in-line quarter and reaffirmed its full-year forecast. Symantec is falling 13.5% to $21.29 following the security software makers reduced earnings guidance. Shares of Amazon.com and Microsoft could be active ahead of their earnings reports after the closing bell. Futures held gains after a report showed weekly jobless claims fell 12,000 to 350,000 versus the consensus estimate of 340,000. A separate report revealed the trade balance declined in August. European markets are higher at midsession helped by generally positive earnings releases. The FTSE is up 0.5% in London. The DAX is 0.6% higher in Frankfurt. Asian markets finished mixed on the overnight session. The Nikkei gained 0.4% in Tokyo. Chinas Shanghai Composite declined 0.9% as concerns surrounding tighter liquidity overshadowed a better-than-expected manufacturing report. Treasuries are higher with the 10-year note up 3/32 to yield 2.49%.
