UPDATE: Fire at Oscar's Smoke House in Warrensburg
UPDATE: 9:09 P.M.
CBS6's Craig Smith reported from the scene that the owner of Oscar's Smoke House, Jerry Quintal, said that the fire began at 5:30. The store was open at the time, but a cause or a point of origin has not been established.
Quintal said that the business was fully insured and has interruption of business insurance, which may cover the salaries of the 15 employees working at Oscar's. Quintal has millions of dollars of equipment, but the smokers are stainless steel and probably did not burn.
The building was destroyed, but Quintal plans on rebuilding and estimates that it could be rebuilt in a few months.
Quintal's father opened Oscar's, which has been in business for 63 years, selling smoked meats and cheeses. Quintal said that about $1000 in meat orders were placed for Labor Day weekend, and people who ordered from him will have to get the products they ordered elsewhere.
