Vermont man arrested for stealing car from Washington County couple
A Vermont man was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly stealing a car from an elderly couple while they were parked at a rest area on the Vermont border, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office alerted Vermont State Police to the incident at Route 4 Wednesday. A deputy stationed on Route 22A n Hampton saw the stolen vehicle traveling southbound, and pulled the vehicle over.
The driver, 21-year-old Gareth Fabian, was arrested and charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property and misdemeanor unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was remanded to the Washington County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.
The county sheriff’s office says Fabian is also wanted in Madison County on felony assault charges.
