David McCarty (LaSalle/UAlbany) Joins NFL's TB Buccaneers
ALBANY - David McCarty (Gansevoort, N.Y. / La Salle Institute), the UAlbany football program’s career rushing leader, will attend the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ NFL Rookie Mini-Camp this weekend. The Buccaneers first practice is scheduled for Friday at 2:05 p.m. Eastern.
McCarty, a 6-foot, 215-pound tailback, is the school’s all-time rusher with 4,287 yards. In addition, he is the Great Danes’ career leader in 100-yard rushing games with 24 and all-purpose yards with 4,976. McCarty made his third consecutive appearance on the All-Northeast Conference squad in 2009.
For years McCarty has planned to join the U.S. Marine Corps following graduation. But now that this NFL opportunity has arisen, a military career may have to wait for now.
