DA: Man shouted 'I live for this!' in stabbings after Larkfest
ALBANY -- A 30-year-old Troy man faces up to 75 years in prison after being convicted Friday on felony assault charges.
Anthony Harden is scheduled to be sentenced April 1. He faces up to 25 years in prison for each of the three counts of assault.
According to District Attorney David Soares, Harden attacked a group of seven friends walking home from the Larkfest event on Sept. 19. The group included an Army soldier and six University at Albany students, including the soldier's wife and twin brother.
Harden was a passenger in a vehicle driving out of Washington Park, where the soldier's wife was standing in an intersection, causing the driver to make an abrupt stop, said Soares. The two groups got into a verbal dispute, then appeared to move on.
Shortly afterward, though, Harden emerged from the vehicle, took off his shirt and pursued the group over 90 yards up State St., where Harden confronted the group and punched the soldier, breaking his nose.
Despite pleas from the victims to leave them alone, a struggle ensued; Harden stabbed the soldier, his twin brother and another male victim.
One of the other students was able to take a photo of Harden running at him with a knife. During the altercation, said Soares, Harden exclaimed, "I live for this, this is what I do!"
The case against Harden's girlfriend, Veneliya Goodwin, for her alleged role in the incident is pending in Albany City Court.
