Run for the Fallen in Troy starts at 11 p.m. Friday
TROY -- The two-mile Run for the Fallen slated for tonight in Troy will close several streets in the area.
The run to memorialize the lives of soldiers who died while serving in Iraq and in Afghanistan is being sponsored by Troy business Ryan's Wake. Proceeds raised from t-shirts sold at the race will be donated to STRIDE-Wounded Warrior Projects, a local organization that raises money for wounded soldiers.
Soldiers in Baghdad will be running a 5K at the same time; cities across the US have also organized their own runs to participate in the event simultaneously.
The run will start at Ryan's Wake at 11 p.m. and go through Riverfront Park, down River St. past City Hall to the Watervliet Bridge, and back around to Ryan's Wake.
Organizers expect at least 100 people at the race.
