Plaza ice skating rink won't be opening again

ALBANY -- It will be another winter season without skating on the Empire State Plaza.
“The state's severe fiscal challenges do not enable the operation of the Empire State Plaza skating rink during the 2009-10 season," Office of General Services spokesman Brad Maione told CBS 6 on Thursday.
He estimated about $150,000 will be saved by the decision.
This is the second year in a row the rink won’t be opening. The 2008-09 season was the first time since a fiscal crisis in the early 90s forced OGS not to open.
