Edwin Ubiles Nets 3rd Straight MAAC Honor For Siena
LOUDONVILLE - Edwin Ubiles (Poughkeepsie) is the third straight Siena basketball player to earn at least a share of the MAAC "Player of the Week". The senior guard averaged 23.5 points per game helping the Saints extend their winning streak to seven with wins over Loyola and Niagara. Ubiles is now Siena's fourth all-time leading scorer trailing Marc Brown, Doremus Bennerman, and Kenny Hasbrouck. He's got a shot at becoming just the school's third 2,000 point scorer. Junior forward Ryan Rossiter (Staten Island) was MAAC "Player of the Week" January 4, after his career-high 29 point performance against Mount Saint Mary's. Senior forward Alex Franklin was named MAAC "co-Player of the Week" December 28. Franklin had a dominating performance in Siena’s 84-62 victory over Rider in the Saints’ lone game of the holiday week. The Reading, Pa. native tied his season-high with 22 points on 9-for-13 shooting and added 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Franklin also added two steals and two assists in the contest. Siena (13-4, 6-0 MAAC) has climbed to 39th in the latest ESPN Inside RPI. That's one spot ahead of defending NCAA Champion North Carolina. The Saints' next game is Saturday January 16 against Fairfield at The Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT with first place in the MAAC on the line.
